This year, I am on the Varsity Show team. I am raising a lamb and market broiler chickens. I have a Southdown lamb named Nugget that I got at the beginning of June. I feed him twice a day, exercise him regularly to help him build lean muscle, and regularly wash and shear him to keep him clean. I also scoop and rake his pen to keep it clean and bacteria free. I also have market broiler chickens. Just like last year, I started out with 25 chickens. To care for them, I keep their pens at a certain temperature, based on their age, and I ensure they have feed and water all day long. Just like with Nugget, I have to keep their pen clean. I do this by sifting their bedding and when it gets dirty, I change the bedding out entirely. This year, I showed my Southdown at the North East Ag Fair, and earned 4th place. And I showed my market broiler chickens at the Bexar County Junior Livestock Show, where I earned 5th and 6th place. I also showed my market broiler chickens at the North East Ag Fair and earned Reserve Grand Champion overall. I enjoy working on these projects because I enjoy working with animals and I hope to one day have a job working with animals. Thank you for your consideration. All the money raised will go to my animals next year and to savings for college.
