Meet my Hampshire-Suffolk cross lamb River. I purchased him in April from a breeder on the Eastern Shore. He weighed about 60 pounds when I got him. He was also so scared of me and any other person that went near him. He was hard to catch to put a halter on and walk. I spent time with him every day since I got him and now he greets me at the door of his stall. He even loves when I scratch under his neck.
He also started to eat less at one point. I had to figure out what was wrong. I asked some breeders and learned that he probably didn't like the food. I switched to a sweeter, more expensive feed that he loves so much. He eats an 18% lamb show feed, alfalfa, hay and has access to a pasture. He started to finish his food again and gaining weight. He is very strong but is gentle with me. He has been raised with another Hamp-Suffolk cross, Brooke. They walk daily together and race up hills with me and my sister. They get very upset if they can't see each other. They are best buddies.
