My name is Makayla Patrick I am 16 years old and a sophomore at Christian schools. This is my second year showing steers I have a Steer named Boots who is a Simbra and my sister has a steer named Cowboy who is a limousine. Boots weighs 1180 and won 2nd place at the show.
I have learned so much in the past two years through 4h. I would say the top things I have learned from this year are responsibility, push to the end, key to detail, and every day every minute every second counts.
I’ve dealt with many challenges this year such as halter breaking, lice, rain rout, ringworms.. and so much more however through all of it each thing has taught me a lesson that I can apply to not only steers but everything I do sports basketball and softball my job as a salesperson at Boot Barn. Being a leader at church. Coaching and teaching the 4h elementary robotics team. Student government, and all of my academic achievements as well.
Doing so many activities at the age of 16 can be really difficult and extremely stressful at times. That's part of how I’ve learned how important every detail and every second is. I am truly blessed to have the help and support of my family, coaches, friends and so many more.
The money from this auction will be going towards my next steer purchase and covering the cost of medication and feed.
