Howdy! My name is Jada Murphey I am currently a sophomore at James Madison high school . This is my second year showing livestock , but my first showing steer. My Freshman year I showed pigs. I am very passionate about raising livestock and have learned to appreciate the responsibility and time management it takes to raise a successful animal. Raising a steer this year was a huge learning process. I am very grateful for my family and the teachers who have helped and supported me throughout it. I have been working with my project daily, regardless of how early or late I have to stay at the barn. My steer, Winston, means the world to me and has taught me a great deal over the past eight months. Caring for my first steer wasn’t easy; I am proud of the outcome of my hard work and dedication. My goal is to get the most out of my FFA experience. I recently had the honor of representing Madison’s FFA program on the news. I spoke about the various FFA programs offered and the commitment it takes to raise livestock, particularly steer.
I am also involved with the guide dogs for the blind program. Currently I’m raising my GDB puppy Gunther, who is now 9 months old. I am also active in our National high school BBQ association . My team, the “Cowgrills”, won regional champions at our last competition!
The money I make will go into my next livestock project! Thank you in advance for all of your support.
