My experience this year has taught me so so so much from patience to determination and more , I want to walk you through my experience from beginning to end. I bothered my mom for weeekkksss on end anticipating the day of selection, while I was at cheer practice I was watching the clock waiting minute by minute for the end of practice just so I could rush to the barn to set up his green and white handmade sign with the name Bruce on it , all of his decoration and all my equipment . Then I went into selection worried but ready because I was confident in my decisions and knew I would make the right choice, then I found him Bruce my sweet piggy. I had such a hard time try to pick him up because I was new to him and he was new to me so I didn't want to hurt him…. I ended up picking him up and he screamed and screamed and then peed on me but I didn't care. A little while later I got him into his pin and he immediately got as far away from me as he could , he even jumped on the wall as if he could break out, it hurt my feelings a little bit because I thought he was the cutest little thing and I wanted him to trust me but I remembered we are new to each other so I just need to be patient . So I did and for about a week he was still iffy with me but one day he came up to me and nudged me . I was SOOOO happy I immediately told my mom to get a picture. I took another week and he would come up to me on his own and even would play piggy tag with me . Thennnn I started trying to train him , this was the 2nd hardest point for me , he hated the whip , he didn't want to leave his pin, when he did leave his pin he ran away from me and honestly just made me feel like it was impossible , I cried and cried day after day, I dreaded barn days because I was so embarrassed my teachers would see I couldn't control my pig ,I got to a point where I was almost hopeless , so I spent 6 hours at the barn just sitting with Bruce, letting him chew on the whip and petting him with it , then I tried to train him. It took a but getting him out his pin but he walked up and down the barn isle, not perfect but I had control, for once I felt like me and Bruce were understanding each other. I was so so so happy , it was a timely process but it was worth it , in the time we spent familiarizing with each other we bonded , he knew I wasn't there to just dump feed in his troft and whip him but to be there to care for him , give him attention and love. Weeks carried on and me and Bruce’s connection got stronger in stronger , if I sat in his pin he would come up to see what I was doing , when I cleaned out his pin Bruce would help me spread all his shavings by throwing them in the air and sometimes at me, I give him marshmallows and blueberry treats, we played tag together, he would drink his hose water when he would get a bath , he would role in mud on what I like to call “be a pig day” where I tan him and let him run around and play in the fields. Me and him have had so much fun together and have made so many memories, we had a rocky start but it was worth it , he is the sweetest piggy and I so happy he chose me to be his pig momma.
