My name is Kailey Wingate and I'm from Barbers Hill FFA in Mont Belvieu. This lamb is my final project before I graduate and go to college. His name is Willis and out of all the projects I've had this year, he's been one of the best.
I've been showing goats and lambs throughout my 4 years in High School, but this was by far my most active and competitive year. I had 5 lambs this year and went to a ton of jackpot shows and almost all of the majors. I did well in many of the local shows and have a few buckles to show for it. I also sold in Dallas and placed in the top 20 at Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin. No big prizes or money, but it was an experience of a lifetime.
As I enter my final contest, I have mixed emotions of leaving behind my passion of showing animals and the excitement of the journey ahead. I plan to follow my brother and other family members footsteps by going to Texas A&M, but I will pursue a different dream in my studies with aspirations of becoming a vet one day.
Any funds received from this project will go towards that dream and my college degree. I appreciate my dad for supporting me along the way as we are a single-income family after my mom passed away when I was 13, but the proceeds here will definitely help!
Thank you so much considering my project and more importantly for supporting this show and all the kids that dedicate their time and money to these ag projects. I truly believe FFA and showing animals has made a tremendous impact on my life and future goals.
Sincerely,
Kailey Wingate
