This is my fifth year raising waterfowl. Waterfowl are one of my favorite projects (I also raise swine). I chose to only raise muscovy ducks and no pekin ducks this year. This allows me to simplify and focus on quality. The muscovy act like puppies by wagging their tails. I love raising ducks because they are so cute. The muscovy is said to be the steak of the duck breeds. They are very large, have very long nails, and powerful wings. This allows them to live in trees unlike other ducks. This makes them very hard to handle though. I train my muscovys to walk from the chicken coop in the morning to their outside enclosure under a trampoline. This allows them to be messy with water but not make the coop a muddy mess and attract flies. At the end of the day I walk them back to the coop where they have an enclosure for the night that is dry and safe. It is a lot of work but it gives the ducks exercise and keeps them healthy. It is important to me that I am raising quality meat for someone's table. Thank you for taking your time to read about my pig and supporting 4H & FFA!
