My name is John Turner. I am writing to invite you to the El Paso County Junior Livestock Sale in Calhan on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at 1:00pm. At this sale, I will be selling one of my two pigs that I have raised for my 10th and final 4H project.
This year, I raised a gilt Hamp-Cross (black belted) and a barrow York-Cross (white). My favorite pig to work with is the gilt. I plan on selling the gilt at the sale. Currently, the gilt is on track to weigh approximately 270lbs by fair time.
In the fall, I will be attending Pikes Peak State College to participate in their welding program. In the future, I would like to do pipeline welding. For the past four years, I have worked for Ausmus Excavating and will continue to work for them as I attend college. The money that I make from selling my pig will go towards my college costs.
It has not been easy working, going to school, playing sports, and raising pigs, but it has prepared me for adulthood. I am thankful for the unique opportunity that I have been given to participate in the 4H program. If you are able, please come to the sale and see kids like me that have been taught the value of hard work and responsibility. Thank you!
