Howdy y'all, I am a junior at James Madison High School. I am apart of the Agriscience Magnet Program at James Madison. I have been raising livestock for three years and have always shown pigs. This year I decided I wanted to do something different so, I chose to get a steer(American) and a pig(Berkshire) for my junior year. I got my steer in April and had him the whole summer to spend time and train him to be the show steer he needed to be. I then received my pig in September and started working with her to get her to where she needs to be. With having two animals in two different barns it gets hard showtimes managing my time between both of them and having time outside of the barn for myself but, it all is worth it because you get to have an opportunity to do something that most kids don't even know is a thing and manage to gain real life management skills that will benefit you in the future.
