Hi, my name is Bailey Gafke! I’m 13 years old and this is my fifth year showing livestock.

I have 2 goats this year! One wether and one doe. I named them Diesel and Grace, after my brother and I’s middle names. At Bexar county Junior livestock show, my animals weighed 83lbs and 75lbs. My goats get fed Newco, ShowRite Advancer, 2oz sure champ, 2oz powerfuel, 2 oz stand alone, and 15cc wheat germ oil.

Last year I showed a steer, but quickly realized my passion for showing goats. Me and my goats have been working constantly throughout this show season to get them prepared for majors. We go on runs outside, work on showmanship, blowout and brush their leg hair, walk laps inside the barn, and more. One new challenge I have encountered is my wether has struggled setting up and really giving that drive that makes him look presentable in the show ring. I have been working on finding new methods to fix these problems, and that’s just one of the things FFA has taught me over the years. Determination. Even when things dont go as planned, thinking outside the box until a solution is found is a super helpful skill, that will help me in the future as I further my agriculture career, knowledge, and experiences.

Thank you for considering adding any amount on to my project for future learning experiences!
