Hello! My name is Luke Spurlock, I am 14 years old, and this is my 6th year in 4-H. This is my 3rd year of participating in the market goat project and I am so excited to show at the 2025 El Paso County Fair this year. I have also competed in 4-H shooting sports for 6 years including .22 Pistol and Archery.  This year I have qualified for State in both disciplines.

I wanted to tell you about the market goat I am raising to sell in this year's auction named Moose.  My brother and I were watching an online sale where prices were too high for me on most animals so we couldn't believe that he was overlooked.  Last year, I made the final drive with my goat and felt so close to being in the top 2, so I have been working very hard this year by working with my animals, exercising them, conditioning their hair and skin, giving them fresh water twice a day, measuring out their food and weighing them once a week.  He turned out to be an amazing goat, so I am really excited that Moose and I were able to make the Grand Drive and win Reserve Champion Market Goat!!!

Moose has a large frame so he can carry above average meat capacity so will be a perfect weight at 113 pounds for the livestock sale. He placed 5th OVERALL for his CARCASS!!!  Looking forward to seeing you there and thank you for supporting 4-H and the El Paso County Jr. Livestock Sale!!
