Description

My name is Silas Smith. I am an avid Broncos fan, and I enjoy shooting my bow, hiking, fishing, and working on my 3D printer. This is my tenth and last year in 4-H. I will be moving on next year to continue my college work in engineering. I am finishing an associate degree in engineering from Red Rocks Community College where I have been taking dual enrollment classes the last few years. I plan to pursue a bachelor degree at Colorado School of Mines in engineering design upon completion of my associate degree. I am finishing my 4-H career strong having completed swine, dairy, rocketry, robotics, woodworking, leathercraft, shooting sports (.22 rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading, archery, pistol and high power rifle), and visual arts projects. As the current president of my 4-H club, I have enjoyed learning leadership and teamwork skills that I encourage in others around me. I am so grateful for the opportunities that Elbert County 4-H has given me, and I am excited to show my barrow, Pi 3.14 (I know, a nerdy math name) for my final Elbert County 4-H fair. Pi 3.14 is a pretty mellow barrow, not getting too excited about much. He is a slow eater which has required me to hand feed him apart from his pen mates. He will usually do what I ask, only with a fair bit of grunting when he doesn't want to do the task. He will relent and go for that long walk, he just wants to make sure that I know he doesn't really want to go up the hill. I am looking forward to one more great Elbert County fair.
