Hello. I am Josiah Smith, and I am excited to sell my gilt at the Elbert County 2025 fair. I have been in 4-H for eight years now. I participate in a wide range of projects including swine, dairy, dog, rocketry, robotics, .22 rifle, archery, muzzleloader, shotgun, .22 pistol, leathercraft, and woodworking. I am a dual enrollment student at Red Rocks Community College taking classes towards an associate of engineering degree. After high school I plan to transfer to Colorado School of Mines and finish a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. I know that I am a math nerd, so I named my gilt for this year Big G which stands for the gravitational constant used to calculate the gravitational pull between two objects. She is definitely a big gilt and fits her name well. She is full of personality. I am grateful for the opportunity that 4-H provides me to learn skills in many fields. I have enjoyed being the Elbert County Youth Council Boy Senator this year and attend many 4-H camps. I am excited to show my dog project. I volunteer for the Freedom Service Dogs of America and help to raise a puppy that I will use for my dog project. This puppy will go on for more training following the fair and hopefully be placed in the home of a disabled person. I enjoy using my 4-H opportunities to give back to the community. Thanks for taking a look at me and learning about my 4-H swine and other projects. Big G and I are ready for a great 2025 Elbert County Fair.
