Hello, My name is Calvin Moore and this is my fourth year of showing market Turkeys.  I am proud to present my Bronze Turkey, Jenni.

As a senior in high school and a long-time 4-H member, I chose to complete a market turkey project this year to continue building my skills in animal science and agricultural responsibility. This project involved raising a turkey from a young poult to market weight, preparing it for show and sale at the county fair.

From the start, I was responsible for every aspect of my turkey’s care. This included setting up and maintaining a clean, safe living environment; feeding a balanced, high-protein diet to ensure proper growth; monitoring weight gain; and keeping detailed records of feed efficiency and expenses. I also worked on safely handling and conditioning my turkey for showmanship.

This project helped me further develop time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. I’ve learned the importance of consistency in animal care, and I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for what it takes to raise a healthy, market-quality bird. 

Funds earned from the sale of my turkey will go toward my tuition at Western Welding Academy. I'm grateful for the opportunity to participate in 4-H and share the results of my hard work with supporters in the community.
