Hello!

My name is Avari Claar. I’m 11 years old, and I’m excited to be in my third year of 4-H and my second year raising market goats. But goats aren’t my only adventure this year! I’ve also taken on creative cake decorating, clothing construction, muzzle loading, and woodworking.

Now, let me introduce you to my goat Sassy, and yes, she lives up to her name! She’s full of energy, attitude, and a whole lot of personality. I chose market goats because they’re small, feisty, and fun, basically, the goat version of me! They’re easier for me to handle than larger animals, although “easier” still means dealing with some serious stubbornness, and the occasional tug-of-war across the pen.

Training Sassy has been a wild ride. I’ve spent countless hours teaching her to lead and brace. Some days I feel like the teacher… other days, it feels like she’s the one giving the lessons. But through it all, I’ve learned patience, responsibility, and that it’s always smart to keep a few treats handy.
