Hi my name is Kirsten Simons.  I'm a 7th grader at Happy Junior High. I've been showing steers for the past 5 years through Swisher County 4-H.  I judge Meats and Livestock through our county 4H program and I’m active in Photography, Archery, Clothing and Foods.  I’m also the 3rd Vice President of the Happy 4-H Club and I have served two years on the County Council.  Leadership and Community Service are probably my two most important projects, but beef is my favorite!

Sunni is a yellow cross out of Dakota Gold and he weighs 1050lbs. I’ve had him for a little over 11 months!  Raising and showing steers is a year long project and has taught me responsibility and to have a good work ethic. Sunni has been one of my favorite steers because of his personality!  He is a young calf and has been kind of a persnickety eater, so it has been hard to get him to the correct weight range.  He was finally gaining enough weight to be a perfect Houston/Austin lightweight calf!  It was disappointing to find out I wouldn't get to show at either of those shows. I had a fun year with him and definitely learned a lot. The memories I made along the way were my favorite!  I’m sad Sunni and my show season got cut short, but everything happens for a reason.  Safety always comes first and there is next year to look forward to. Your support and donation are greatly appreciated, and will be put toward next years steer project.

Thank you!
Kirsten Simons
