Hello. My name is Savannah Beall. I am 13 years old and attend Southern Middle School as an eighth grader. I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society. This is my fourth year raising market animals in Harwood 4-H Club. I love being in 4-H because it helps the community learn about the importance of supporting local farmers. It also helps fill the stores with fresh meat and teaches the kids in the 4-H clubs how to maintain a budget and earn a profit. Which will help us know more about what to do when we have a job, and need to keep track of things like that. This year, I am raising 1 market goat, 1 market hog and 1 market lamb. I am a Junior member in the Southern Maryland Agriculture Development Commission Program (SMADC). All of my animals are pasture raised and grain finished, on my farm. I plan to use the money I earn over my years in 4-H to pay for college and things in my future.

This is Spot, he is my market lamb project.  My lamb is a spotted Texel/Katahdin Cross. He was born at my Grandmothers farm in Davidsonville. He is sweet, but he is also shy. He was hard to tame, but everyday I sat in his stall and read so he got used to me. I also fed him out of my hands and eventually I could let him out in the big field and he would come back to me. I chose him because he was bouncy through the field. He loves animal crackers and thinks he is a goat so he chews on everything. The money that I earn from Spots sale will help me to balance out my other market projects budget. Not a lot of people eat goat meat, and I like showing goats, lambs and pigs. So I have to earn enough money to do it. I enjoyed having more time at home with my animals this year because of online school. I like raising them and can't wait to do it again.

I would like to thank Josh Merkel for purchasing my market goats last year. And Encore Construction for purchasing my market hog. Thank you for supporting me and my friends. We really appreciate it and could not do it without you. I hope you consider bidding and possibly buying one of my animals this year at the auction. I enjoy 4-H and selling my market animals each year at the fair helps fund my future projects.
